"All negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body's energy system," says Gary Craig, Stanford-educated engineer and founder of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

You can spend years in talk therapy and still have negative emotions about an event because your energy system remains disrupted. Or you can correct the disruption and within minutes completely remove the negative emotions associated with that event.

EFT is an energy therapy that works by tapping gently with your fingertips on acupressure points on the head and torso, while you focus on a specific issue or incident. This process corrects the disruptions in the body's energy system that cause negative emotions.

Sounds too simple to be effective, doesn't it? But EFT really does work. Hundreds of thousands of people have used EFT to release a wide variety of issues and physical ailments, such as anxiety, pain, weight issues, addictions and allergies, etc.

EFT is effective on just about every emotional and physical issue you can name, and often works where nothing else will. And chances are pretty high that EFT can help you.

You begin the EFT process by tapping on the karate chop point on the side of the hand while saying a phrase three times that helps you focus on an issue. Be as specific as possible with the statement. (Illustration from the free EFT Manual.)

Or you can rub the sore spots on the chest area, which are shown in the illustration to the left (purple dots), while repeating the set-up phrase three times.

Then tap 5 to 7 times on each acupressure point (red dot) in the illustration, starting with the point on the top of the head. Say a reminder phrase while tapping on each point, ending with the point on the diaphragm.

Use either hand for tapping, as the points are the same on both sides of the face and torso. But tapping on both sides at the same time will increase EFT's efficiency.

Important Note: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), Avana Method and Quantum-Touch do not replace therapy or health care from medical professionals. While EFT and TAT have been used by thousands of therapists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, doctors, and individuals worldwide with exceptional results and minimal negative side effects, they still must be considered to be in the experimental stage. Thus, practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of them. Further, Elaine Nitz, founder of Tap Into Your Dreams, offers Emotional Freedom Techniques, Tapas Acupressure Technique, Avana Method and Quantum-Touch as a life coach and energy therapist in the greater Kansas City area, as well as over the phone, and is not a licensed health care professional.
